Onn Kee Chicken Shop, Ipoh

Andy is back for few days... so it is his turn to request for what he wants to eat... and yesterday, he wanted to eat nga choy kai...(towkay chicken) Instead of going to Loe Wong, this time we went to Onn Kee just opposite Loe Wong. After parking the car, we were ushered to a shop which belonged to Onn Kee...

Hey, it was very authentic... like the old shop houses I used to stay during my childhood days...

andy enjoying his food...

just look at the sumptuous chicken!!!
the bill came to RM32/-

Pappa Rich Curry Mee In De Gardens

Pappa Rich.. I always heard of it but never been there until last Friday when AA came back and Fernie wanted to go to De Gardens. She has two choices, Pappa Rich or Mong Kok... and she opted for the PR.

Business seems to be good even it was still early... 6.30pm... and I could see that they have a wide selection too of choices. I was quite full.. so I didn't order the curry noodles as my kids did. Just look at the thick curry.... they wanted it dry so that it won't be too spicy for them...

it cost RM8.90 per bowl..
a bit pricey but then it was quite an enormous bowl..

Aberdeen Kopithiam

Each Sunday my girl and I will be cracking our heads thinking of where to go and have our dinner. Normally my mum and a niece will join us on that Sunday evening... but the problem is always thinking of places to go and have our dinner... somewhere not too far and something good for our stomachs. Finally we landed in Aberdeen Kopithiam. Heard from my mum that their soup noodles are nice... but funny though, none of us ordered that on that day.....

i ended up taking spicy and our fish...

my mum's squid with ginger....

my girl's spaghetti...

and my niece beef fried rice...
Well, nothing to shout about...
I have yet to try out the noodles but
after this one time, I think I will give it a long interval
before I come back to Aberdeen Kopithiam...

Gopeng Wan Tan Mee

There is one old authentic shop called Gopeng coffeeshop. It is located in old town, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, along CIMB and opposite RHB bank. You will easily miss it if you are not looking for something attractive from the exterior. The shop was quite "dark" and not refurbished as the other shops in old town. Something not attractive looking at all...

But if you look carefully, there are two stalls in front of the shop, one Indian rice and one selling wanton mee. Right in the middle, they put up some Portugese egg tarts, still-in-oven curry puffs for sale. We went in for a plate of wanton mee, expecting the least but to our astonishment, the wanton mee was simply gorgeous looking!

the mee is cooked to the right texture...
the sauce was ... something different...

prawn and meat wanton...

Canning Garden Again

My favourite breakfast again, this is now a once week ritual affair, it will go on till I am "muak" (fedup) ... lol...
But last week we heard something unfortunate happened to the lady who sells the fish ball noodles at this shop. She is diagnosed with neck cancer and now she is under chemotherapy. Now manning her stall is her husband and another lady worker who is very "familiar" with me and my friend.

Well, we learn something from her... that is.. "don't work so hard, eat healthily and be happy."

healthy or not, I do not know..

but we are happily eating each day...

Unique Restaurant In Ipoh

After reading her post about this promotion in Unique Restaurant, I was quite excited... I never been to this restaurant in Tambun before, always heard of it from my friends and now since Mingna mentioned it in her blog, I was kind of "motivated" to go and see for myself what they have in store for these "eaters."

For a set of RM68.90 we get one set with one set free...meaning they are giving 2 sets for the price of one....

first we were served this dish..
a piece of mini sized abalone, mushroom and broccoli...

then came a bowl of shark fins....

sweet and sour fish fillet

a piece of prawn...

a bowl of fried rice..
and this cost RM34.45 for each person...
then I added the following as side dishes...

a plate of broccoli

buttered crispy sotong (squid)

special "sang mee" medium size..
the bill came to RM107.00 for 4 of us...

Here is the restaurant..

Weng Kee Restaurant in Ipoh Garden South

Weng Kee is one of my most frequent eatery place in Ipoh. But each time I went, I ordered the same old dishes because of the different company I was with. I posted this in my Caring Blog recently and since this is a food blog, I added these pictures here too, for easy reference.

The food in Weng Kee is not bad at all... next time I must try other dishes instead of sticking to the same old dishes....but they were yummy.... that was why the repetition...

In Ipoh Garden South... .

the steamed yam....

crispy fried dfish...

kapitan curry chicken...

asparagus...
Three of us "walloped" these dishes
and the bill came to RM57 plus rice and drinks.. .

No Choices Meal

Sometimes Elin and I do not go out for our lunch, we will end up eating in the canteen. Not too often actually, if only we cannot help it. More or less canteen is our last choice.
It is not cheap nor very tasty.... just eat to satisfy our hunger and that is it...lol...

For Elin, it was all vegetables...

for me, a piece of fish and measly lady fingers..

Taking a capati is much more tastier anytime..
