Odeon Food Court In Ipoh

The stretch of food stalls opposite Odeon old cinema or just opposite Sam Tet School, Ipoh is still crowded each night. Locals and tourists alike love to go there for "authentic" food, most of them from the 1970s are still making business there. Business is still buzzing as usual even on weekdays when I took my kids there for the famous beef noodles.

Those born in the 60s or 70s, you will surely remember the few sisters who tend to their beef stall... they are still single and business is just as good...

smooth texture of Ipoh Koay Teow

mouth watering ngam lam (beef varieties)

and their succulent beef balls not to be missed!!

Travel With Comfort

For the past few years, I have been doing a lot of traveling, mostly on asian tours to places such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Vietnam and Cambodia. These places are all Asian countries, but the culture and the food are very different, especially between China and Vietnam. What I love most is the ancient scenery and of course the shopping! From clothing to souvenirs, they are so inexpensive and beautiful. I would not mind going again, especially to Hong Kong, the food is fantastic. Lately my friend is suggesting that we should go on one of the europe tours, at least for two weeks. It is going to be Autumn in a another month or so, and the best thing is, the foreign exchange is so low now, compared to earlier months. She knows it is my dream to visit Europe one day, especially to Italy, because my son has been there and he told me that I should go. Well, I have no plans yet this year, but definitely next year, I am going somewhere and I will make sure the itinerary covers Italy. Perhaps Rome and the coastal area, or maybe Rome and the Greek Islands.

The tour company at collettevacations.com has some really unique tours that take into account a country's history, culture, and special events. It is a great way to learn about the country you are visiting as they have such knowledgeable tour managers. This would be such a benefit in Rome with its amazing history. This company organizes tours in all 7 continents. A friend of mine was speaking of one of the canada tours that includes national parks tours through the Glacier National Park. The scenery of the mountains, the glaciers, and the waterfalls is supposed to be breathtaking. Well, I guess I better start saving now... :)

Maxwell Road Famous Rojak

Had a heavy breakfast as usual and didnt really know what to eat for lunch, when suddenly, my colleague suggested that we go for rojak/pasembor (mixed vegetables with all sorts of crunchy snacks and made complete with delicious sweet spicy sauce on top)

So while we were there, I snapped a pic of his stall without him knowing...haha...it is along off Maxwell Road, a roadside stall where people just sit on wooden stools and taste his infamous rojak. To follow up with rojak is a bowl of chendol...hmmm.... I am very full now...must really work out with Labby..

Hoong Toh In Old Town Ipoh

Remember Hoong Toh restaurant in old town? It was considered a prestagious restaurant from those days, say around 1960s, if I m not mistaken, it used to hold many chinese weddings there, marble tables and wooden polished chairs.. sort of a heritage restaurant that still serves the evergreen food from those days...

Now the restaurant has run down, compared to the present restaurants nowadays...nevertheless the food tasted the same...from 20 years ago when i started eating and until today... we ordered a wan tan hor (flat noodles with thick gravy) and this deep fried wan ton..its their speciality, and accompanied by a sweet sour sauce.

koay teow with gravy sauce....

deep fried crispy wan ton to go with the noodles

Menglembu Market

Menglembu is pretty far from our place but as food bloggers, we travel by food... have food will travel, so to say..
It has been a long while since we went to Menglembu for our meals, this time Lynn took us there. She is more familiar with the market area and she knows where to get the best curry... I am not actually a fan of hot spicy food but being "kiasu", I ended up trying and it was really Super Hot!

Christine took me out for her favorite breakfast shop, situated in Cowan street, corner shop.. oh dear, I do not really look into coffeeshop names. Next time I better look out for the name of the shop otherwise how to be a food blogger, right?

Wrong Choice Of Dishes

What a blunder... after so many years of taking and ordering food outside, it really embarrassed me when this set of dishes came out for my guests from Canada. Most of the food I ordered came out dry without sauce. Really... we nearly choked on the dryness if not for the soup ... really paiseh...

The food was good.. the one who did the ordering was not...

honey pork ribs

omelette

buttered crispy chicken

mini french beans...

water cress soup..

Dry Pan Mee With Sambal Yam

Full stomach caused by a heavy breakfast... all because of my previous post, Lynn "forced" me to show her where the shop was and we ended up having a double breakfast...

Morning itself, I took a mug of quaker oats and I thought, that was it.. till lunch. Little did I know Lynn saw my previous post and drooled over the panmee. Seeing her in torture state, I showed her where the place was and I ended up taking another meal of breakfast.

This time I took the dry type of pan mee, it came with a small bowl of soup with vegetables... the pic turned out blur so it is not displayed here..

we had to wait 15 min for our pan mee
meanwhile we enjoyed this RM2 of sambal yam cake..
yummmmmmmy!!

this was my kon loe pan meeeee...
after the double breakfast, the next meal I took was dinner!
