Durians Lovers

Bought two good ones from First Garden, costing me RM15.oo, the durian boss said, "sure guarantee best one!".... well, if not best, it will be first and last time we would buy, after all, nowadays, durians are still cheap... perhaps in another one week or two, the price will go up... the season might be ending soon... so for those of you durian lovers, do take the opportunity now to eat more...lol.... but then, don't eat till feel the heat... remember to drink cooling water such as pure coconut water to cool your body down....

Kimberley Street, Penang

The other time when I was in Penang, my friend took me to Kimberley Street....all road side stalls, sitting along the street where vehicles passing by here and there. hahaha... gone were the days Ipoh had this style too, everything taste nicer even though we were sitting next to the traffic.

Back to Kimberley Street, it was crowded when we reached this stall, the pavement tables were full so we had no choice but to sit beside cars coming by now and then... I told my son, "added flavor..." :) True, the food we ordered were yummy... we walloped them all and thought of ordering the second round... but we need to save our "stomach" for something else somewhere...

very soft and tasty

our favorite chicken legs...

Just To Fill Me UP...

One of the reasons I have this food blog is not to show what is nice in IPOH or what's popular. This blog is about the food which I consume into my stomach, be it simple, yummy, delicious or yucky. In time to come, you will realize that I do not actually eat much, not all the time nice and good food, some can be so plain that you will wonder why I eat that.... :)

Well, this is me.. there may be days we eat great expensive and there may be times that I just packet some economy rice such as posted below....

a little bit of rice..
with a piece of fried minced pork
some tomatoes egg
& bean sprouts...

followed by a bowl of tau foo far
with pandan soya bean..

This was my lunch, it didn't turn you on, right?

Mother & Daughter Bonding In Jaya Jusco

My girlie and I looked at each other, "Ok, where to, today?" This is a very common question between both of us, either she suggests or I have to and both must agree then only we can proceed...

What am I babbling about? hahaha... of course , our meal... where to go for our dinner today? Then she suggested Jaya Jusco since she wanted to buy some "gift" for her friend's birthday..

These days ever since her brother left for college, both of us are closer in a way, Mother and daughter bonding, as I so called...

Upon reaching, we walked around, looking for food that would attract both of us and eventually, we ended up in the food court, I felt like eating claypot rice and she wanted to take some "yong tau foo."

this was what she ordered...

my claypot rice...

of course not as nice as those selling outside..
but still edible, with generous filling of chicken pieces..
and a piece of salted fish....

Sun Hup Kee Home Cooked Dishes

One evening last week, my ex classmates, Tammy and Shireen invited me out for dinner and we went to Sun Hup Kee. This coffeeshop is fully air conditioned and it is opposite the Peak Hua Building along Leong Sin Nam Street. Famous for their home-cooked authentic styles dishes, the prices are very reasonable as well.
Try to go as early as 5.3opm or if you cannot make it, go around 8-8.30pm, it is easier to get an empty table then. The peak hours normally will be aroudn 6.30 onwards.....

famous for their kon chin kai

Spaghetti In IRC

In IRC again with my girl for lunch. She loves going there...sooner or later my e-voucher will be finished up fast. Good in a way, at least I know she is eating properly, the word "diet" is not in her mind while in IRC, otherwise she is very particular at what she eats each day.

Actually I do not fancy the food here much, except for the double slices of bread as light snacks. Western food is not in my menu, I prefer asian food anytime, anywhere.. :) But for the sake of girlie, I will go....

while waiting for her food...

she ordered spaghetti...

one big plate...
she couldn't finished all
so guess who have to do the finishing touches?

Central Coffeeshop In Cowan Street, IPOH

This afternoon after school, I took my girl to Central Coffeeshop, just opposite Fu San dim sum restaurant. This Central coffeeshop has been around for almost..... 30 years, ever since I was a kid and it is still there... wow... it can become a heritage landmark anytime...

My girl hasn't been to this shop before and we were browsing around thinking of what to order for our lunch. Then I saw this sign, chee cheong fun, Canning Garden....

For those who stay in Ipoh and u r in your 40s now, then u will know that this Canning Garden Chee Cheong Fun was once-upon-a-time very famous one...that time, this man was selling by the road side in canning garden , next to the football field.... Very popular among "dating couples" who would queued up to eat this for supper before they go home after their date :)

this is the infamous chee cheong fun of the 70s...

small plate like this cost RM2.50

this is pumpkin dessert...

i love the coconut eaten with this pumpkin kueh...

There is one shop I love to take my breakfast from, that is along Jalan Onn Jaafar (Cockman Street), opposite The Store Supermarket. We are considered regulars in their shop and the "lady boss" knows more or less what we like to eat ....
They also sell quite a lot of varieties there, from curry to soup and kon loe, few types of noodles, wanton mee, roasted pork, char siew, curry chicken, prawns... and the list goes on and on...
