A Meal In Nam Kew

Last night I came back from Kuala Lumpur, I did not cook and since I have a guest, I thought of taking him to try some Ipoh food. My girl suggested Nam Kew, it was a good idea since they have what we love to eat...

Here was what we ordered...

we regretted ordering this spinach soup
it was much too salty..

but we love the ginger spring onions lala (clams)

they had a rich aroma of the ginger ..
and the lala were very fresh...

my girl's favourite steamed talapia
and 2 plates of noodles which I forgot to take pictures!
The bill came to RM54.00, a bit pricey, I can say...

JAVA Mee In Gunong Rapat

Anyone has a craze for Java Mee noodles? I, for one, do not really fancy java mee very much but this shop in Gunung Rapat changed my mind. This elderly couple who mans a stall in a shop near the Main Road serves the best java mee I have ever eaten. If you do not believe me, then you must go and try.. hahaha...

before you eat, squeeze the lime provided...

very yummy one, i tell u....

just look at the gravy and smooth texture of the noodles!
Okay, wanna go Gunung Rapat tomorrow?
Just along the Main Road before reaching the market..
you can find this stall in a double shop house...

Tea Time

Every now and then, Elin and I would love to frequent this shop at Cowan Street (Jalan Raja Ekram) especially in the mornings where the food comes out fresh and hot. Not only that, they have more choices in the mornings and usually by afternoon, some of the desserts would have been sold out.

What we took for tea time were these...

vegetarian noodles

a bowl of groundnuts porridge

yam cake
we were full till dinner time.. :)

Purple Cane Tea House

I took my mum to Purple Cane Tea House the other weekend... it was her first time there, though for decades we stayed in town those years, it was Foo San dim sum then. She was amazed by their renovation when she stepped in, so different from the time she visited the place.

Again, we did not really know how to order so with the help from the Captain, we came up with these dishes once again....

this one green tea noodles..
handmade noodles.. :)
well, if you like lui char, you will love this...

then came with acar.... one set...

this is not chinese tea but lotus soup...

chicken stew with the two sweet potato buns
well, did my mum like it?
unfortunately, not so...
but at least she has tried something new for once..:)

Citrus Wine & Dine, Ipoh

First time in Citrus Wine & Dine, Ipoh Garden East... I would love to go there once again but will never order the RM55 dish again... though it is very nice but a bit too pricey.. hahhahaa...
I love the ambience there, so cosy and relaxing...

If anyone wants to hold a formal birthday party or for any special function, you can hold them at the balcony or should I say at the higher storey level? Or maybe you can hold it in the garden terrace, it is simply fabulous!

grilled chicken

Rounder or wider, I still love eating the... savoring each bite with hmmmmm....
To kick off the calories, just go and visit Polo Ground... then I can afford to eat more... and more..

Come Come Cendol...

It was a hot fiery Sunday in Tronoh last Sunday. Four of us went to visit a new nursery for elderly ladies and while we were there, we had our share of the abundant food donated by those who came to officiate the nursery. It was a pot blessed style so imagine, there was so much food... gosh...

But what attracted me was the cendol. The man was specially "hired" to prepare the cendol for us there and then... really refreshing!!

with lots of cendol and red beans!

Holiday Season

Holiday season is on the way, for me and my kids, it will be in December so at this time of the year, we should start making plans as to where to go. Now that they are still studying, December is the only month where we have our holiday together as a family. We are still contemplating whether to go to winter resorts or summer resorts near the beaches. While my kids want to enjoy winter, I am quite worried about myself that I cannot endure the freezing cold weather.

If I am given a choice, I would love to head down to the romantic golden sand beaches, somewhere for instance, Hilton Head Island South Carolina. How did I hear about this? Well it is all here in this website, Hilton Head Island, a very relaxing and beautiful beach with world famous golf course. Not only that, Hilton Head Island South Carolina comes with fine dining and fabulous shopping centers. Looking at their beautiful scenery makes me feel excited.... well, I guess this beach resort will have to wait. Let me take my kids for their winter resort first and then perhaps next year, we will make a trip to lovely beaches!
